Devon’s Martial Arts Nook

I’ve been doing Martial Arts for 15 years and still remember exactly what it’s like to know nothing when it comes to starting gear. So here is some stylish, budget-friendly gear to help in your own journey of martial arts, discipline, enjoyment, and readiness.

Beginner hand protection – Hand-wraps 180cm | quick-wraps | 16oz boxing gloves

P.s. Hayabusa and RDX are my personal favourite brands for beginner to intermediate [good blend of style options, quality, and reasonable pricing] — for more advanced and those practicing more regular, sparring often, and/or looking to compete– Fairtex and Rival are my favorite brands— and a mouth-guard and cup are also great investments once you pass hitting mitts (trust me on this one…).

12oz gloves are quite standard for females and those with smaller hand, for males and medium-larger hands, 16oz. Now if you have some real big mitts– go with 18oz, clubber.

Beginner Muay Thai Gear – The art of 8 limbs could use a little more protection– for you and your partner

For Muay Thai, brands differ, with RDX, Hayabusa, & Venum as good starters, with Fairtex & Twins as my go-to’s myself and those more advanced and practicing more regular, sparring often, and/or looking to compete. I prefer the above style of shin-protection over cloth wrap around that tend to air out less… [muay thai shorts aren’t a necessity right away– but they are cool looking!)
